FirstEnergy logoFirstEnergy to Establish Competitive Bidding Process under PUCO Approved Rate Stabilization Plan

The PUCO recently adopted a modified rate stabilization plan for FirstEnergy that includes a competitive bidding process. This plan is designed to determine if competitive electric rates are available to FirstEnergy customers. If not, the modified rate stabilization plan will provide rate certainty for FirstEnergy customers as Ohio electric utilities near the end of the market development period on December 31, 2005. <more>

Governor TaftGovernor, PUCO Chairman Meet with Utility Executives to Discuss Electric Reliability

On June 2, 2004 Governor Bob Taft and PUCO Chairman Alan R. Schriber met with top utility executives from FirstEnergy Corp., Cinergy Corp., American Electric Power, Dayton Power & Light, AMP-Ohio, Midwest Independent System Operator, and members of the Ohio Legislature. Taft called the meeting to discuss the improvements in electric reliability that have been implemented since the blackout that occurred in August 2003. <more>
